Born in County Leitrim, Majella Clancy lives and works in Belfast. In 2013 she completed a practice-led PhD at the University of Ulster. Her research examined contemporary women’s painting practices. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. She has received various awards most recently, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Support for the Individual Artist. Her work is held in many collections including the University of Ulster and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Recent exhibitions include: The Nearby Faraway, curator Feargal O’Malley, FE MacWilliam Gallery, Co Down, (March 2014), Irish Wave, touring exhibition, curator Fion Gunn, Beijing and Shanghai University, China, (March 2014), and
MiniPrint Finland, group exhibition, Hyvinkää Art Museum, Finland (March 2014).
